Alex Shirai-Patmore is a left-handed batter and wicketkeeper who has been a long-standing figure in Japan cricket. Born in Tokyo, he developed much of his cricket in England, representing Norfolk at junior level before playing for Vauxhall Mallards and Sheffield Collegiate in the East Anglia and Yorkshire Premier Leagues. He first represented Japan in 2012 and later returned to the international T20 setup, making his T20I debut against Indonesia in 2022.

Shirai-Patmore has since become one of Japan's experienced wicketkeeping options, combining his work behind the stumps with contributions in the middle order. His highest international score of 52 came against Indonesia during the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. That innings was his maiden T20I fifty and helped Japan to a 41-run victory.

His longevity with Japan has also seen him feature across several generations of the side, and he remains part of the national setup more than a decade after his first international appearance. That experience has carried into Japan's preparations for the 2026 Asian Games, with Shirai-Patmore included in the 15-member squad for the men's cricket tournament in Aichi-Nagoya.
