The skipper of Trinbago Knight Riders - Nicholas Pooran says taking three wickets in the Powerplay was a brilliant start for them, with the senior players absorbing the pressure when it mattered. He admits they had done the hard work before giving the advantage away towards the end, something he felt had been a recurring theme for them throughout the tournament. Pooran praises Lahiru for bowling with good pace and says the characters in the squad stepped up to deliver an important performance. He adds that TKR remained a successful franchise and continued to fight despite the setbacks, although the players were personally disappointed with the result. Looking ahead, Pooran says the team had a responsibility to continue representing the TKR brand and the people of Trinidad and Tobago as strongly as possible. He remains optimistic about their chances, pointing out that they are not out of the tournament yet and that cricket could change quickly.

The captain of Barbados Tridents - Chris Green says he was really pleased with their bowling effort, particularly in the first half, as they managed to take wickets at crucial stages and restrict TKR to around 140. He adds that despite glimpses of partnerships involving Rutherford, Shadrack and Sams, they were unable to sustain them and needed more from the top order. Green also thanks the home crowd for the incredible atmosphere and admits the team was gutted by the performance. However, he says they would dust themselves off and look to put in a better display the following day.

He struck three times, while Akeal Hosein added another to reduce Barbados to 35/4 in the Powerplay. Usman Tariq kept things tight in the middle, though his run of taking a wicket in every game ended after 18 matches. Jyd Goolie then produced a superb 3/20, with Kumara claiming two more, including Rutherford, before Narine returned to seal the victory and cap a brilliant bowling effort.

Brandon King, Quinton de Kock and Rivaldo Clarke all fell to Sunil Narine as TKR’s spin attack kept the batters guessing and firmly on the back foot. Zachary Carter and Sherfane Rutherford made 21 each but faced 20 and 24 balls respectively, while Daniel Sams and Shadrack Descarte could only manage brief cameos. With no one able to build a meaningful partnership, the chase unravelled quickly and Barbados were never able to recover.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Undoubtedly, the award goes to Sunil Narine for his incredible bowling spell of 4/12. He says hey had little choice but to attack while defending a modest total, knowing wickets were their best route to victory. He says the team executed their plans clinically and was pleased to finally have the reward of a win. On his new Powerplay role, Narine reveals that the approach started during the MLC and was continuing in the CPL. He stressed that the key was to keep his mind as quiet as possible rather than overthink the game, allowing him to focus on simply going out and delivering. Reflecting on his own season, Narine admits he had enjoyed a good campaign but would have given that up for more wins for the team. Despite the setbacks, he praised the group for staying together, continuing to produce good performances and maintaining their desire to win.

Defending champions stay alive - Trinbago Knight Riders have produced a superb bowling performance to defend a total that looked well short at the halfway stage, shutting down the chase and taking the home crowd out of the game. The defending champions now have a vital win under their belt and remain in the playoff hunt, although they will need a few results to go their way elsewhere. For Barbados Tridents, the misery continues as a fourth consecutive defeat leaves them at the bottom of the table, with a serious reset needed before they can find a way back.
