Australia may have pulled things back slightly through some skilful death bowling, but they will still be facing a daunting runchase in Cardiff this evening. The tourists used slower balls and bouncers to great effect to stifle England's lower order, but Jos Buttler was still able to find the boundary regularly in his unbeaten 91. Jason Roy set the tone earlier on, rocketing to an outstanding century either side of the rain delays as the hosts took control.

Taken in the deep, fittingly it is Roy who takes the catch after his impeccable century earlier in the day. England seal victory by 38 runs and go 2-0 up in the series.
It wasn't the most ideal of starts for England this morning after Eoin Morgan was ruled out with a back spasm and they lost the toss. However, early fireworks from Jonny Bairstow (42) set the tone, followed by some brutal hitting from Jason Roy (120) and Jos Buttler (91). Roy stroked the ball to all parts of the ground, going up through the gears smoothly in his fifth ODI century. Shaun Marsh was obviously watching carefully as he adopted a similar approach during the chase, holding things together for Australia with a masterful century of his own. No other Australian could pass fifty though, and ultimately that cost them dearly after having England under pressure with ten overs remaining. Liam Plunkett nipped in with four wickets, including the massive scalp of Marsh just as the left-hander was looking intent on snatching victory. Next the series moves to Trent Bridge on Tuesday, with the tourists needing a win to keep things alive.

That could be the moment that all but seals the victory for the hosts, and by the reaction of the England players you can tell they were under the pump. Plunkett rolls his fingers across this delivery and Marsh looks to give himself room but can't connect as the ball smashes into the sticks.

Paine actually made decent contact with that but he picked out the fielder perfectly.
