Regarding the decision to bowl Jacob Bethell, he explained that he went off the field for an over to consult with their coach, Brendon McCullum, who suggested giving Bethell a crack, which ultimately worked for them.

The captain of India - Shubman Gill says his side conceded too many runs at the death, which proved to be the difference. He adds that the plan was to keep wickets in hand during the chase but feels the damage was done by England's openers in the powerplay and the late flourish.On the positives, he says almost everyone contributed with the bat across the series. Player of the Series - Joe Root is given the award for his fine batting performances, notching up 249 runs. Root, on being asked about his performance in the series, says that he is very happy that they bounced back in the first game. Continues that these boost the morale of the team and they will work hard in the upcoming games as the World Cup is just next year. On being asked about the team's performance, he praises the team's performance, stating that the tempo they played with on that surface was fantastic and featured risk-free cricket for a long period. India's torrid tour ends - After getting handed a drubbing in the shortest format of the game, India have now thrown away a lead to lose the ODI series as well. The bowlers simply didn't start well, bowling too many extras in the first few overs, and this allowed the English batters to dictate terms. Throughout the first innings, the visitors were under the caush and never really managed to conjure a comeback. With the bat, the top order played their part, but they needed someone to stay till the end. Rohit Sharma roared back to form after speculations of retirement and showed his class with a stellar 138. Gill and Kohli struck twin fifties, but the middle order crumbled under pressure.

The batters set it up - England enjoyed a stellar first half set up by a mammoth 192-run opening stand between Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell. Duckett went on to score a fine ton as Joe Root kept up his run, notching up another fifty-plus score. Jos Buttler laid the finishing touches as England piled on 387 big runs. The bowlers had a difficult time finding the wickets, and a second-wicket stand between two cricketing legends frustrated them for some time, but once it was broken, the bowlers pounced and sealed a comfortable victory. Sam Curran was the chief architect, picking up four wickets.

England seal the double - After sweeping the T20I series, England have now sealed a comeback ODI series win as well, breaking their bilateral losing streak against India.
