We are back for the chase! The umpires are back out in the middle and so are the players of England. Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi are all set to open the innings for India. Sam Curran is off the field to begin with, and Jordan Cox is on as a substitute fielder. Jofra Archer is redy to setam in with the new ball. Let's play...
... The Run Chase ...
Needing a record chase - India opted to bowl first but were under the pump a bit. They did well to pull things back after the Powerplay as the likes of Prince Yadav and later on Harshit Rana picked up wickets at crucial junctures. They were off the boil with their fielding and the bowling wasn't all that great but they did end with a couple of decent overs, wresting back some momentum. Righto, 202 is what India need to pick up their first win of the series and a lot will ride on the opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Stay tuned, as the exciting run chase is up next.
Cameos up top and at the end - It was Jos Buttler who set things ablaze at the top, mustering up 36 quick runs. After his dismissal, England looked to steady the ship, but once things settled down, Phil Salt roared back to form with a half-century. However, it was an unbeaten 41 off 24 balls from Sam Curran that really propelled the hosts over the 200-run mark.
England go past 200 - Another sublime display of hitting from the hosts and they have put on a solid total of 201 runs on the board. India had a few lapses in the field, and the slower ones didn't quite work out for them today, but it isn't a target that's out of their reach.
England finish with 201/7. Very full by Arshdeep, on off. Curran stays leg side of the ball and squeezes it away past extra cover. Shreyas Iyer tidies up after getting around from long off. A couple of runs to end the innings.
OUT! JOFRA ARCHER IS RUN OUT! They had to go for the second to keep Sam Curran on strike. A bit of tail on this yorker from Arshdeep, on middle. Curran digs it out in front of long on and attempts the second run. Shreyas Iyer charges in off the ropes and throws it on the bounce at the bowling end. Arshdeep collects the ball and breaks the stumps to catch Archer short of his ground. England are 7 down for 199 with one legal ball left in the innings.
Well bowled! At 138 kph, Arshdeep nails the wide yorker. Curran lets it go but the ball sneaks inside the tramline.
Low full toss, on middle and leg. Jofra hits it down to long on for one.
FOUR! Not where Archer intended but they all count. This is pushed across the right-hander, on a length. Archer has an ungainly swipe across the line with all his might. The ball leaves him with the angle to take the outside edge and it flies over shorr third.
Jofra Archer is the next batter in.
OUT! WILL JACKS IS RUN OUT! Arshdeep attempts the yorker but it comes out as a low full toss, on middle and leg. Jacks swings at it and gets it away in front of square on the leg side. Will is a bit indecisive but eventually commits to the second run and that hesitation leads to his downfall. Axar Patel swoops in, picks the ball up with his left hand and fires in a throw at the batting end. Ishan Kishan collects it on the bounce before breaking the stumps. The third umpire is called into action. The replays find Jacks to be short despite his attempt to stretch out and slide his bat in.
Is that gone? There's an umpire's review for a run out at the batter's end and replays quickly confirm that Will Jacks is well short of his crease. OUT!
This is into the wicket, on middle and leg, no pace offered. Curran swings early for the pull and wears it on the midriff. Just 7 runs from the 19th over.
Nails the yorker, on middle. Curran gets his bat down and squeezes it out wide of mid-wicket. Before Shreyas Iyer can get in from the deep Curran comes back for the second run.
Slower one, into the wicket, on middle. Curran hangs back before pulling it through mid-wicket for another brace.
DROPPED! Harshit Rana shells it. Prince takes pace off and bowls it on a good length, on middle and leg. Curran clears the front leg and has a swipe across the line. It is skied towards deep mid-wicket, where Rana runs to his right and is on the move when the ball hits his palm and as a result, he can't cling on. Two runs taken.
Tailing back in, full and on middle. Will smears it to deep mid-wicket and crosses over.
A swing and a miss! Full and in the channel. Jacks swings to force it through the off side but misses.
Very full at pace, outside off. Curran gets his hands through the line of the ball and drills it between cover and long off for a couple of runs more. 15 runs off Rana's final over. Ends with figures of 4-0-40-2.
Wide! Attempts the wide yorker but sprays it beyond the tramline. Sam lets it go.
Fuller now but it is another slower one, on off. Curran drags it away to the left of long on for a brace.
FOUR! Smashed! Rana bowls the off-cutter, this sits up to be hit at waist height. Sam cashes in on the width as he stands tall and spanks it past extra cover.
Pace off, angled in, on a back of a length, on off. Curran plays the short-arm jab wide of deep mid-wicket for a couple of runs.
Slower one, on a back of a length, chopped down to point.
FOUR! Gets it away. Rana steams in from around the wicket for the hat-trick ball and goes searching for the yorker. Ends up bowling a low full toss on off. Curran opens the bat face and steers it past short third for a four.
SIX! Banged away! Speared in, fuller and on middle. Jacks gets it right in the slot and he does not miss out. He gets down on a knee and nails the slog sweep over mid-wicket. 18 runs off the over.
This is fired on a length, around the tramline. Jacks lets it go, thinking it is a wide but does not get the signal he was looking for. The umpire gestures that Jacks had moved towards the off side.
SIX! Dispatched with disdain. For the second time in the over, Axar drags it down, on middle. Jacks rocks onto the back foot in a flash and pulls it in front of square for half a dozen.
Sliding on with the arm, on off and middle. Jacks looks to nudge it away on the leg side but ekes out an inside edge onto the pads and the ball goes nowhere.
Time to sign off - Three games are done in the series, with two still to come. England may have plenty to ponder in Tests, but in T20Is they have made a statement against the current world champions. It has been a nightmare start to Shreyas Iyer's tenure as India's T20I captain, and his side now has it all to do if they are to end the series on level terms. The fourth T20I will be played in Bristol on Thursday, 9 July, with the first ball scheduled for 4.30 pm GMT (10 pm IST). Until then, it's goodbye from us.
The skipper of England - Harry Brook starts by saying that the communication and the plans going into the second half were perfect. Adds that they knew it was a tricky surface and wanted to hit the deck hard. Mentions that Phil Salt's innings was mega and also Jos Buttler's cameo up top, as they knew the surface wasn't an easy one to bat on. On the contribution of the middle order, Brook says that he's delighted with how they played and with the ball, they kept it simple and tried to hit the top of the stumps. On areas to improve, he says that they need to keep adapting to the surfaces like they did today.
The captain of India - Shreyas Iyer admits the performance was atrocious and says losing by such a big margin is simply not acceptable. He feels the team must first accept the defeat before going back to the drawing board. In his view, it wasn't a 200-run wicket, but losing five wickets in the Powerplay left them with too much to do. Iyer feels the hard length was the right option on this pitch, something they as a bowling unit failed to execute. Looking ahead, he says the team must move on quickly, come back stronger, and that every player needs to reflect on how they can contribute more to the team's cause.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Jofra Archer takes home the award for his stellar display with the ball. He returned figures of 3/29 from his 3 overs. Archer says that he's happy to contribute to the team. On his performance, he says that against world-class batters, you need to hold your nerve. On the turnaround in fortune from Manchester, he says that it's very quick how things change and feels that he was lucky to get one of his wickets today. On Josh Tongue, Archer says that he's a genuine wicket-taker and will keep doing that, and he enjoys bowling with Tongue.

Earlier in the game - After winning the toss, India managed to keep things quiet early on, but not for long, as Jos Buttler got England up and running. He couldn't convert his start, but Phil Salt did. After a scratchy beginning to his innings, Salt found his rhythm and held the innings together. It was Sam Curran who then provided the late flourish, playing a crucial hand to lift the hosts beyond the 200-run mark. Playing his first game of the series, Prince Yadav was the standout for the visitors with figures of 2 for 30 from his 4 overs.
Powerplay demolition - It was the new-ball pair of Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue who blew India away with a fiery opening spell. Not all five wickets that fell inside the Powerplay came from wicket-taking deliveries, but in this format, you need a bit of luck to go your way as well. From India's perspective, it was one of those innings where they seemed to find fielders almost every time they took the aerial route. 5 down inside the Powerplay, and India never really recovered from there. What followed was an abject surrender as England romped to a commanding victory. Nottingham's own Josh Tongue finished with a four-for in just his second T20I while Jofra Archer accounted for three out of the opposition's top five.
India handed a shellacking - England have absolutely steamrolled the tourists here in Nottingham. It was as dominant a performance as you could ask for, with the Harry Brook-led side cruising to a 125-run victory to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. It continues to go from bad to worse for Shreyas Iyer and his men on this UK tour. After a 2-0 clean sweep against Ireland, they have now suffered their biggest defeat in T20Is by the margin of runs and have been rolled over for their second-lowest total in the format.
OUT! TIMBER! Done and dusted, England have handed India a real hammering, winning the game by 125 runs. Adil Rashid pushes this one through a bit quicker and fuller on middle, pushing Varun Chakaravarthy onto the back foot. Chakaravarthy looks to flick but plays all around the traditional leg break delivery and the ball beats the outside edge to smash into the stumps.
FOUR! Varun Chakaravarthy is having a bit of fun out there. Tossed up again, too full and straight, Varun clears the front leg and lofts it straight down the ground for a boundary.
Quicker through the air now, on off, Chakaravarthy rocks back again and blocks it off.
Tossed up, really slow, on length and around middle. Chakaravarthy rocks back and punches it to cover.
Full and outside off, Yadav jams it through the gap at covers for a couple of runs. Josh Tongue finishes a brilliant spell with figures of 4-0-28-4.
Tongue goes a bit wider on the crease, pitches it on a good length and angles it into the batter. Prince Yadav hangs back to defend.

OUT! CAUGHT! That is a sensational catch from Tom Banton, and Josh Tongue has a four-fer. Tongue hammers it in on a hard length, at around 142 kph and pushes it outside off. Harshit Rana backs away and laces the cut but hits it uppishly. Banton at backward point, springs to his left and snaffles it with both hands. India are 70/9, and England are just one wicket away from victory.
A sharp bumper now, over middle and leg, at 145 kph. Rana does well to duck under it.
Dug in short and outside off, Rana looks to whack it leg side but gets an inside edge and the ball goes towards mid-wicket. Rana is disappointed to not have connected well here.
No run taken! A length ball outside off, Harshit Rana goes after it to cut but edges it down to deep third and denies the single.
Plenty of air, full and outside off. Rana leans on to smother the turn and eases it to mid off for a single. Jofra Archer scores a direct hit at the keeper's end but Chakaravarthy is well in.
Rashid slows it right up, bowling it short around off. Chakaravarthy waits back and pushes it through covers for a single.
Beaten! The googly now, full and pushed through outside off. Chakaravarthy looks to drive but is beaten past the outside edge.
Tossed up, full and on middle, Varun Chakaravarthy defends it off.
DRINKS BREAK! We all need a moment to process what has unfolded so far in the 9.2 overs. India have simply been blown away, and it has been a procession. India's lowest-ever total in T20Is is 74, and that record is under serious threat with only two wickets remaining. Varun Chakaravarthy walks out to bat. Harry Brook has positioned himself at slip.
OUT! CAUGHT! Gone this time. Adil Rashid tosses this one up, bowled from the front of the hand. Arshdeep Singh sits down to sweep again but miscues it badly. The ball lobs up around silly mid off and the keeper Jos Buttler calls for it early, and then jogs after it, pouching it safely. Number 8 down for India.
Dragged length on off, Arshdeep Singh looks to sweep but gets a top edge over the keeper and down to deep third for a couple of runs.

In the air, and lands safely! A brain-fade moment in the field for England and Arshdeep Singh survives. Josh Tongue hammers it in short over leg stump, Singh backs away and goes after it, only managing to slice it high and towards short third. Jos Buttler runs after it and so does Sam Curran from backward point. Buttler calls for it and then Curran calls for it, and in the end, they both keep looking at each other as the ball falls right in the middle. Single taken.
