And that’s a wrap on the warm-ups! A commanding victory for Nepal to close out their preparations. Now, the stage is set for the main event. The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 kicks off this Saturday, February 7th, with a massive triple-header. The action begins with Pakistan vs Netherlands at 5.30 am GMT, followed immediately by West Indies vs Scotland, and we finish the day with India vs USA. Make sure to tune in for the toss and early team news. Until then, goodbye!
Earlier in the game - Canada posted a competitive total of 161/6, anchored by a 63-run partnership between Kanwarpal Tathgur and Navneet Dhaliwal following a cautious Powerplay. Although a mid-innings wobble saw quick wickets fall, an explosive unbeaten 38 from Shreyas Movva and a cameo from Jaskaran Singh Buttar provided a crucial late flourish. Their rapid 51-run stand, which included 35 runs in the final two overs. The bowling was disciplined from Nepal, led by Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Bhurtel's two wickets each.
Aasif’s Fireworks and Jora’s Resilience - The inning started with Nepal losing their first wicket in the first third over in the shape of Kushal Bhurtel, but after the fall of their first wicket, Aasif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora shook hands to have a impecible partnership which set the tone for their side. Aasif showcased his strokeplay and on the other side of the deck, Jora offered resilience. These two made a partnership of 84 runs in 52 balls. Aasif Sheikh was retired out after his 58 runs off 29 deliveries. Jora then continued knocking ones and twos to rotate the strike. Canada started picking up wickets after the first half of the second inning, but it was too late for them to come back into the contest and Nepal won their last warm-up clash by 6 wickets.
A commanding win for Nepal! This was the last warm-up match for both teams and Nepal should be on the happier side with this positive result. They have performed well not only in this match but also in their previous match against UAE were they won by 7 wickets. On the other hand, Canada just had the opposite. First, they lost against Italy and now against Nepal. So, not the warm-up campaign they would have thought, but skipper Harsh Thaker will surely take the learning from these two matches and implement it in the World Cup.
