  • 129.1

OUT! Caught. Sam Curran to Neil Wagner. Full toss, off stump on the front foot flick, in the air uncontrolled to mid wicket, by Sibley. And that's it, Wagner with a golden duck, firing one straight to Sibley at mid-wicket, 375 at the close and a good end to the innings for England picking up quick wickets for minimal damage. Broad and Woakes put a good shift in after tea and that aided England's fight back.

  • 162.5

OUT! Bowled. Neil Wagner to Stuart Broad. Slower ball yorker, off stump on the front foot defending, missed to. Broad gone! His innings didn't last long, Wagner with the five-for, England with a lead of 101. Good innings from England, especially Root, Burns and Pope who all played a crucial role in England's first innings, a collapse at the end from the tail means England don't have a lead that will challenge New Zealand. Now for the home team the target is to bat and bat long, they have four sessions now to get through without any problems and with the batting they have and the pitch it looks likely they will bat out the rest of this game.

He goes for 8 after he chops onto the stumps from a slower ball from Wagner, he will be annoyed at that because he looked good, hitting the ball cleanly, but he departs and Broad enters with England leading by 101.

  • 162.1

OUT! Caught. Neil Wagner to Chris Woakes. Length ball, outside off stump on the front foot driving, outside edge in the air uncontrolled to wicketkeeper, by Watling. Woakes out! He edges one to Watling at keeper for a duck. Not much foot movement from Woakes as he looks to drive one through the off-side, England have had a bit of a collapse but with runs on the board they won't be too disappointed.

  • 158.3

Neil Wagner to Sam Curran. Back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot pulling, to deep mid wicket for 1 run, fielded by Henry.

  • End of Over 75
Over 75. 16 runs. Bowler: Joe Root. New Zealand: 241/2 (rr 3.21)
  • 74.6

Joe Root to Ross Taylor. Off break length ball, down leg side on the front foot defending, to point for no runs, fielded by Stokes. Rain delay in Hamilton, that almost ends it with the stoppage you can't see either side getting a result out of this, in the current session Taylor advances onto 105 after three boundaries in a row just before the rain stopped play, Williamson there with him on 104. The deck is flat the ball is old and not moving off the seam or in the air so runs are easy to come by and maintaining your wicket has been simple, not much for England to play for with heavy showers coming through for the next hour or so. After a couple of hours of waiting for a call the umpires finally call it a draw, New Zealand win the two match series 1-0 after winning the first game at the Bay Oval. England nearly got a result here, rain was their biggest enemy after it stopped four sessions worth of play which would've been enough for a result. Hundreds all over the place on this road with Root, Latham, Burns, Taylor and Williamson all picking up triple figure scores. As for the series, England will be happy with the batting aspect of the first innings in Hamilton, getting their first score over 400 in two years, Pope looked good in Hamilton as well, batting for a patient 75. As for the bowling, the tracks England bowled on weren't the friendliest and so judging their bowling would be unfair, I think more than anything the tempo in the field was lacking and that effected the bowling, and that allowed New Zealand to post a big score at the Bay Oval, England did get into good positions in both games but failed to seal the final couple of batters to reduce the New Zealand scores. England move onto South Africa whilst New Zealand travel to Australia for a big three test series against their biggest rivals.

  • 74.5

Joe Root to Ross Taylor. Off break length ball, off stump on the back foot cutting, to cover for no runs, fielded by Broad.

  • 74.4

SIX! Joe Root to Ross Taylor. Off break length ball, down leg side on the front foot slog sweeping, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs. Taylor with a century! Class batting from him to see off the threat yesterday and score efficiently with Williamson whilst playing risk free batting, these two have put on 213 together and don't look like getting out now.

  • 74.3

SIX! Joe Root to Ross Taylor. Off break length ball, down leg side on the front foot slog sweeping, well timed in the air under control over deep square leg for 6 runs. That six moves Taylor onto 99, huge slog-sweep, Taylor knows the rain is coming and might end the game early so he doesn't want to end it without scoring a ton.

  • 74.2

FOUR! Joe Root to Ross Taylor. Off break length ball, down leg side on the front foot slog sweeping, well timed past deep mid wicket for 4 runs. Taylor not messing about here, he wants to get his ton quickly, he heaves this one into the gap on the leg-side, not much danger involved with mid-wicket free.

  • 74.1

Joe Root to Ross Taylor. Off break length ball, to leg on the front foot flick, to mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Burns.

  • 72.5

FOUR! Joe Root to Kane Williamson. Off break length ball, down leg side on the front foot sweeping, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. Sweep down the fine leg for four and Williamson gets his 21st test century! Shaky batting at times but he dug deep and did what he needed to do which was to maintain his wicket, runs have come easily on this deck and he has cashed in, terrific work from the New Zealand captain.

  • 72.4

Joe Root to Kane Williamson. Off break length ball, down leg side on the back foot working, to mid wicket for no runs, fielded by Archer.

  • 72.3

Joe Root to Kane Williamson. Off break length ball, outside off stump on the front foot pushing, to mid off for 2 runs, shy attempt by Curran, overthrow by Curran, fielded by Crawley. Close run out for Williamson, he takes a suicide single, and Curran has three stumps to aim at but misses, another big moment for Williamson. With nobody backing up the ball goes past the in-field so New Zealand take an extra run.

  • 72.2

Joe Root to Kane Williamson. Off break length ball, middle stump on the front foot defending, to gully for no runs, fielded by Pope.

  • End of Over 70
Over 70. 9 runs. Bowler: Ben Stokes. New Zealand: 211/2 (rr 3.01)
  • 69.6

FOUR! Ben Stokes to Kane Williamson. Back of a length, down leg side on the back foot pulling, well timed past fine leg for 4 runs. That four from Williamson gives New Zealand a 110 run lead going into the second session. They have done very well this session despite the two drops from Pope and Denly, Williamson and Taylor nearing their tons, Williamson the closer of the two after pulling the short ball well late on in the session. Taylor looked the more comfortable batter, the fuller ball has been a challenge for him historically but today he has in control of that delivery. Like I mentioned before not much at all in the pitch for the England bowlers so it's down to variation from the bowlers to try to break this partnership, Archer nearly did that but for a poor piece of fielding. England still need eight wickets, a tough ask with rain possibly coming later on too.
