OUT! CAUGHT!
Spears in a yorker right at the base of the middle stump. Miller digs it out through mid-wicket for a run.
Not all that short, angled in, on middle and leg. Miller pivots for the pull and inside edges it onto the box.
On a good length, on the off stump. Miller has a swing across the line but toe-ends it to mid-wicket.
Dragged length outside off, Rew backs away early and then snatches at the shot, miscuing it back to the bowler.
SIX! The move to give Root an extra set has backfired. Bowled shorter over middle, Thomas Rew goes deep in the crease, moves to the off side and pulls it handsomely over deep square leg for a biggie.
An umpire review for a stumping, pretty strange as the batter never seemed to step out of his crease. Joe Root goes over the wicket now and fires it just down leg. Thomas Rew gets across to the off side to sweep but misses. The keeper collects the ball and whips off the bails, appealing for a stumping. The umpire reluctantly goes upstairs and replays show that Rew's front leg is marginally outside the crease, but his back leg is almost in contact with the stumps. Not Out.
FOUR! Rew seems to have had enough and puts it away with disdain. Dragged length outside off, Rew walks down the pitch and wallops it flat over covers for a boundary. The 50 is up for Southern Brave.
There to be hit, but Rew fails to put it away to the fence. Flighted delivery on leg, Thomas Rew gets inside the line, sweeping it to the right of Rachin Ravindra at deep square leg for a couple of runs.
Bowled fractionally short on middle, Miller rocks back and turns it through mid-wicket for just another single.
Bowled flatter again, on a good length and on off. Thomas Rew eases it off the back foot to long on and rotates strike.
Flatter delivery, darted across the right-hander. Rew jams it out to cover.
That's good running. Shorter and angled down leg, David Miller hops back and tickles it down to fine leg. The fielder at deep backward square leg runs around to his left as the batters pick up three runs.
A flighted delivery, full and on leg. Rew leans on and clips it to deep mid-wicket for a run.
Time for Joe Root to roll his arm over.
Dragged shorter now on leg, quicker too. Rew presses back and taps it in front of mid-wicket for a single. Just 3 runs off the last 10 balls for the Brave.
Finally, David Miller is off the mark. Fullish length, angled into the legs. Miller works it towards square leg and picks up a single.
Make that 6 straight dot balls for Miller. Quick and flat, on off, this is chopped down to point.
Short slows it up now, pushing it into the pads. Miller fails to get it away. He's yet to get off the mark.
Quicker one, darted in at the stumps. Miller gets hurried off the deck but manages to push it out to backward point.
First look at spin as Matthew Short comes on.
Jansen goes a bit fuller, angling it into the pads. David Miller nudges it towards mid-wicket, and that is a fine set of 5 from Jansen. Just a run and a wicket off it.
Good length again, a few inches straighter at the stumps. Miller dabs it across into the on side.
Good-length delivery, just nibbling away from around off stump. Miller plays it late and with soft hands towards short third.
One left-hander replaces the other. Here is David Miller.
OUT! CAUGHT! Hit well, but straight to the man in the deep. Marco Jansen digs it in short and around off. Ben McKinney gets inside the line to pull and hits it flat towards deep backward square leg. Rachin Ravindra is stationed in the deep and he squats down to take a reverse cup catch. Southern Brave are now 36/2 after 32 balls.
Rew is struggling to find his timing at the moment. Pitched up on middle and leg, Rew looks to heave it leg side but gets an inside edge onto the body, pinching a quick single as well.
Marco Jansen returns to bowl.
Back of a length, on off, Rew shuffles inside the line and flicks it to deep square leg for a single.
A direct hit, and Thomas Rew was gone for all money. Hard length over middle, Rew hops to the off side, jamming it to the right of mid-wicket, and he sets off for the single. McKinney sends him back and luckily for Rew, Sam Cook misses the direct hit at the keeper's end by a whisker.
